Providing the region with 32 MWp Renewable Energy
The Poppleton Solar project offers a major step towards a sustainable future for York by using lower grade agricultural land to generate enough clean energy to power approximately 12,400 homes annually.
The proposed Poppleton Solar project is designed to generate 32.6 megawatts (MWp) of clean power and will encompass 125 hectares, including space for temporary work during construction. The solar farm will connect to the local electricity distribution network via an underground cable spanning approximately 3.5 kilometres from the site's south-eastern boundary to the existing substation in Poppleton. A planning application for the project was submitted to City of York Council on December 5th, 2023 and is expected to go to committee in June this year. We look forward to collaborating with the community and stakeholders to bring this impactful project to fruition.
